Water System Expansion - August 6, 2026

New:  Important Wastewater Treatment Plant Master Plan and Expansion Update - Discussion Only

CWAG's Dr Beverly on Water & Growth at Lakeshore650 Open House

Jul 27, 2023:  Gary Beverly, PhD, Exec Committee Member of the Citizens Water Advocacy Group fills in the blanks for the audience at the July 26 2023 Open House event for the proposed Fain Lakeshore 650 development.  Dr Beverly explains the serious impacts on our region's water supply when water recharge credits are used to build more houses instead of replenishing the groundwater in our aquifer. Using recharge credits to build more homes only increases the future demand for more water and adds further strain on our limited resources.  Groundwater levels are declining and every new house consumes groundwater.

Vote NO = the County zoning (RCU--70: Single Family Rural Residential) will remain in place thereby stopping the high density L650 development.

Sept. 17, 2024:  Despite overwhelming opposition by the citizens, the annexation and re-zoning request of 652 acres near Lakeshore Dr. and Fain Rd. for the development of a high density Master Planned Community with 3491 residential units, plus commercial, was approved at the Sept. 12, 2024, Town Council meeting.  The STOPLakeshore650 citizen group has initiated the referendum process to get the annexation for the Lakeshore 650 project placed on a future election ballot to be decided by the voters.  The referendum will allow the citizens to determine the future shaping of Prescott Valley. Those who want that section of town preserved for low intensity uses, as promised in the General Plan,  will be able to vote to oppose the annexation.   If annexation is voted down, the County zoning (RCU--70: Single Family Rural Residential) will remain in place and thereby stop the high density development.
